Kim Jong-un and the Hotel of Doom

The 105-story Ryugyong hotel which dominates the skyline of Pyongyang, may open next year, 26 years after construction began. The overgrown pyramid has become known as the “Hotel of Doom.” Only 150 rooms on the top floors would be used as a hotel. Shops, restaurants and offices would eventually open on the lower levels.

Construction on the building began in 1987.

It is the 47th tallest building in the world (1,100ft) and has the fifth greatest number of floors (105).

Just think; if Dear little Leader Kim had actually paid the workers, that thing would have been built in 5 yrs, tops !

With so many floors, it sounds tight.  That is 10.5 feet per floor, but with the tower and point it is probably less than that.  That is not much when you figure structure has to fit in that, as do mechanical systems, plenums, etc.

But then again, we are talking about BSC NoKo.

Perhaps the people are diminutive due to all the communism caused starvation and can fit better than we well fed Americans could.
