The story is woefully shy on details, like; how were they holding the rope ? Wrapped around their fingers ? With their fingers laced inside / between the individual rope braids ? What were they tugging against, a Patriot Missile ? A top fuel dragster ?

Thanks, EBL; I guess that`ll be all the details I`ll get – the rope was wrapped around their hands. The physics of the accident are still a mystery as it seems to me, once the rope broke, the tension would be released. It looks like a tightening of the rules and a larger diameter rope would be in order.
I hope and pray that reattachments were successful !
